Specifically, we are talking about glass tempering, a technique that requires sophisticated machinery and highly trained personnel.

Tempered glass is much more resistant and extremely safer; to obtain this, the slab is subjected to a thermal shock: a first heating cycle brings it to a temperature of almost 700 degrees centigrade and a subsequent cooling cycle with jets of air drastically lowers the temperature. This notable overhang strengthens it and elevates its technical qualities.

Once tempered, the sheet acquires great structural resistance which in itself represents a guarantee of solidity, but this is not the reason why tempered glass has earned the nickname of safety sheet. It is so defined because, if it were to break, it would not produce sharp and dangerous splinters of glass, but would be reduced to small and harmless fragments.
